U Mobile Razer 5G

U Mobile has entered into a strategic partnership with Razer Inc. to collaborate in several key areas. This includes interoperability of e-payment platforms, esports and 5G trials.

U Mobile will be introducing their own eWallet called GoPayz and the orange telco is working to have cross-platform compatibility with Razer’s existing digital payment network. This allows GoPayz users to pay at Razer Pay’s extensive network of over 10,000 outlets across Malaysia and vice versa. According to U Mobile, they have a subscriber base of 6.5 million users and the eWallet is expected to be introduced in the second half of the year.

Both Razer and U Mobile are working towards achieving Malaysia’s dream of becoming an eSports regional hub. They will work together in providing platform and opportunities to nurture new talent, hosting eSports related events and implementing necessary infrastructure. With Razer as the official eSports partner of the upcoming 2019 SEA Games, the gaming brand will explore opportunities with U Mobile in co-marketing and co-branding.

With 5G trials to commence in Malaysia next month, U Mobile is involved in the task force to provide implementation recommendations for 5G deployment in Malaysia. U Mobile together with Razer will explore conducting eSports related 5G testbed and trials to maximise the benefits and reduce technical challenges when it comes to 5G deployment. They are looking into leveraging eSports events for 5G testbeds in Malaysia.

According to U Mobile, Razer is a perfect partner for their 5G trials as 5G can level-up eSports with ultra-fast network speeds as well as low latencies. They added that eSports has always been a key priority area for U Mobile.
