After months of teasing, Proton has finally, officially launched the Proton X70 SUV today. With the launch Proton also revealed the official prices for the X70. There are four variants on offer – Standard 2WD, Executive in either 2WD or AWD form and top-of-the-line 2WD Premium.

The prices for the variants are as follows:
1.8 TGDi Standard 2WD: RM99,800
1.8 TGDi Executive 2WD: RM109,800
1.8 TGDi Executive AWD: RM115,800
1.8 TGDi Premium 2WD: RM123,800

All prices include on-the-road costs without insurance.

For a limited time, Proton is offering additional benefits for early buyers. They are:
Five free labour service
Five-year unlimited mileage warranty
Five-year free data (1GB/month)
Low-financing from 2.3% p.a

Interestingly, the on-board 4G WiFi in the Proton X70 is powered by Celcom using e-SIM.

Standard 2WD RM99,800

In terms of specs, the base model 2WD standard gets halogen projector headlamps without DRL but it comes with LED foglamps and LED rear combination lamp.

Unlike the more expensive variants, there are no auto wipers but you do get auto headlamp with “follow me home” function and auto folding side mirrors. To meet the below RM100,000 price point, the standard variant gets fabric seats.

The base X70 runs on 225/65 R17.

The base model skimps out on some amenities like powers seats and auto-dimming rear view mirror, but all the essentials are there. This means you still get the full digital LCD meter cluster plus the 8-inch touch display. As far as we can tell the Proton X70 is the only car to offer this feature at this price range.

The base model gets steering mode select (Normal and Sport), drive mode select (Normal, Eco, Sport), push start, auto dual-zone climate control, rear air vents and an onboard air purifier as well.

It’s quite a descent spec list considering the price.

Executive 2WD RM109,800
Executive AWD RM115,800

The Executive variant gets LED projector headlamps (instead of halogen), LED foglamps, LED DRLs, LED rear combination lamp, auto wipers and auto headlamp with “follow me home” function. You also get the auto folding side mirrors.

In addition to that the Executive line adds on welcome and footwell cabin lamps, auto-dimming rear view mirror, remote window open and close function, and a 4-way adjustable power driver’s seat. Speaking of seats, all of them are leather on the Executive line.

The wheels are bigger too with 225/60 tyres on 18-inch rims.

Premium 2WD RM123,800

The premium version gets everything the executive line gets plus a panoramic sunroof and that delicious Nappa leather upholstery.

On top of that you get, 2-way power adjustable lumbar support on the driver seat and a 4-way adjustable front passenger seat with a dedicated “boss” button so the rear passenger can adjust the front passenger seat for more room.

You also get a 9-speaker sound system with amplifier and sub-woofer. The Executive like gets an 8-speaker set while the base model gets a 6-speaker set up.

And, you get a larger set of 225/55 R19 wheels and tyres combo.

Across all variants

All Proton X70 variants come with an 8-inch touch-screen, support for voice commands (the Premium line gets “additional” voice command functions), online navigation and on board 4G WiFi powered by Celcom.

Also standard across all variants are six airbags, rear isofix seats with top-tether, ABS, EBD, brake assist, auto brake hold, stability control, traction control, hill-hold assist, hill-descent assist, electric power steering and electric parking brake.

Only the top of the line Premium variant gets forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, intelligent high beam control, tyre pressure monitoring system and a 360-view camera.

There are no front parking sensors on the base model while the Executive gets two parking sensors at the front and four parking sensors at the rear. The Premium model gets four parking sensors at the front and four at the rear.

All models run on the 1,799cc turbocharged GDI engine with 185PS at 5,500 and 285Nm from 1,700 to 4,400rpm on tap mated to a 6-speed automatic with manual mode. In terms of fuel capacity, all variants get a 60-litre fuel tank.
