Entry level iPhone 3GS 8GB for RM1,199

When Apple announced 8GB versions for earlier iPhone models, it was meant to be entry level models to make it affordable for the masses. That doesn’t seem to be the case here until recently.

Apart from the iPhone 4 8GB which can be bought for RM1,799 outright, reader David had pointed out that Apple Store is also offering the iPhone 3GS 8GB for RM1,199 outright. This makes it cheaper and can be a choice for mid level smart phone buyers.

The iPhone 3GS is still decent smart phone with access to a huge library of apps on the App store. In terms of software, it is still on par with the latest iPhone as it supports iOS 5 albeit with reduced new features. Other smart phones within that price range are Sony Ericsson Xperia ray, LG Optimus Black, Samsung Galaxy S Plus and Samsung Galaxy W.

As comparison, Maxis iPhone page is still showing the 3GS 8GB priced at RM1,790. There’s an i3GS promo plan which offers the phone for RM199 with 24 months contract.

For more information, head over to iPhone 3GS product page.

Thanks to David for tipping us at the comments!

Damn mahal…you guys can get Samsung Galaxy Plus with better spec which cost at around that price…why apple is so expensive?…android device is getting cheaper and cheaper..

They aren't getting cheaper and cheaper, they're born to be a cheap product against apple's expensive one. People have their own choices just like LV bags are so expensive yet still got people buy. It's the matter of personal preference on either price or specs or brand.

it's a never ending story n question ..for a well-known name brand u r tangled with it's high price…
yet some people find it worth it in their own ways..same with me,

i find myself having to choose the phone that i want based on 'certain-feature' that i used the most – not what other people say – review n comments do help a lot in comparison, but i stick to what I NEED, not what OTHERS THINK of …

i don't hate mac/apple/etc.., not even close to like them very much – but to have them, one must used it to it's full spec~..not just to show that they HAVE an iphone – whate a waste dude..
