If you’re looking for an iPhone for cheap and don’t really need to get the latest, Maxis is still offering the iPhone 4 8GB version from as low as RM499 with 24 months contract of TalkMore 48 + 3GB of data. Meanwhile, for those that want to commit less, it is going for RM699 with 24 months contract of TalkMore/TextMore 28 with 1GB of data. The iPhone 4 8GB version is priced at RM1,449 outright.
In terms of bundling, TalkMore 48 offers 400 minutes of voice calls and 200 SMS while TalkMore 28 offers 200 minutes and 100 SMS. The mobile data are actually bolt-on monthly data plans of RM48 for 1GB and RM68 for 3GB. During sign up, Maxis requires RM1,000 upfront payment which is rebated across 5 months. However for Maxis One Club customers, the upfront payment is waived as usual.
For those looking for something newer, the iPhone 4S 16GB is offered at RM1,049 on SurfMore 75 with 5GB data.
Head after the break for the TalkMore 28/48 + data bundling details.
While waiting for the iPhone 4S to show up in Malaysia, the iPhone 4 8GB version is finally available in Malaysia. It is currently selling through Apple’s Online Store for RM1,799 in both Black and White colour options. Best of all, there’s no tie in with any telco so you can pop in any micro-SIM of your choice without any lock-in contract.
Looking at the bigger picture, this may very well indicate that the iPhone 4S will be coming in very soon. In September last year, the iPhone 3GS 8GB version was offered in Malaysia 24 days before the iPhone 4 was launched by both Maxis and DiGi. Your guess is as good as ours but it is highly possible for the iPhone 4S to arrive in the next month or so.

Thanks “Hadip” for the heads up!
