i have a question. will maxis charge if we exceeded the 3gb quota?

    OoO

    http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/mobile/browse_se

**Subsequent usage for Monthly Passes (except 100MB Pass) will be charged at RM0.05/10KB.

    androiduser

Yes they will, and there is no cap. Meaning the more you exceed the more you pay.

    Ichigo

Yup… They will charge… Digi n Celcom will not charge if u exceeding the quota, however they will throttle the speed after that.. Slow…

androiduser

I am at midvalley now, just saw the crowd.. so many people and its almost in chaos. I would rather pay a little more than to queue up.

newbie question: how to monitor/control data transfer, to make sure it not exceed the limit? "rm600++ sbb dh exceed limit" is scary..

    amato

To avoid this (my way) :
1- Download android aps in android market like "3G watchdog" and its free. u may set up monthly data (500mb/1.5GB/3GB) and due date of ur monthly payment.. it will automatically alarms u whenever ur reaching the limit or can be customized ( i.e exceeds 50%,75% quota) .it's so easy to use and helps me a lot!once u reach/almost reach the limit, dont ever ever surf the net!! use wifi instead.
2- I usually disable data network by selecting option in the phone setting. eventhough data network is disable, u still manage to sms, receive and make calls.but for mms/ 3G u definitely have to turn the data network mode ON..whenever i've done mms, i turn the data network OFF back. it's so simple n lifesaving!!
Its essential because sometimes there are apps in android phones working in background mode such as Gmail.it will automatically updates without u realize it and of course it will charge the network data.
3- use wifi more instead of data network provided by maxis ( dats wat i do the most )
*i use Samsung Galaxy S and take the lowest quota 500 MB and mange to maintain mothly bills ~ rm100 :)

i've been there this morning & asked the sa if i can buy phone only without the contract. he replied that i need to get the contract to buy it, or just go to samsung store@ the gardens. when i go to the garden, they said sgs2 no stock. how come? :(

ROBERT

For your info, 3G watchdog won't detect/calculate the wifi data. It's a brilliant app..

Ah Seng

Go for AP version la. I dont see the urge to buy this phone really.

Raj

Hohohoho……many will regret when they tie their neck up with MAXIS plan soon. :-P

Dont fall into trap like this my dear consumer. Exercise your judgement right

MC.

i went there and asked the lady standing and wearing the samsung shirt… about the phone whether still available for 799… she said already sold out.. people were queuing from 5 am.. huhuhuh… then I went to samsung store @ the Garden asked to buy the phone so he said I need to put the pre order and the phone will arrive about 3pm…only limited to 70units..Thank God… i wont get tied with that killer plan..

    shiro

how much u bought at samsung store?

Pinkiex

Gonna get one next week. But no way in hell I'll get tied to Maxis. Pehhh.
