The Malaysian Prime Minister will have a special address this evening at 6pm to provide an update on the current COVID-19 situation. This will be Muhyiddin Yassin’s first public address after he was recently placed under home quarantine.

You can watch the announcement at 6.00pm this evening (6th October) across multiple platforms including RTM, Bernama TV, TV3 and Astro Awani.

The COVID-19 situation has hit a new record high in Malaysia with 432 cases reported yesterday and it brings the total number of infections to 12,813. As of yesterday, there are 2,336 active cases remaining and a total of 137 deaths so far.

Kedah reported the most cases yesterday at 241, followed by 130 cases in Sabah. Bulk of the new cases reported yesterday are from the Tembok cluster which recorded 224 new infections. Malaysia has recorded over 200 cases daily since 1st October.

To curb the spread of the disease especially in Sabah, the government has announced a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Kota Kinabalu, Putatan and Penampang which will take effect from midnight tonight (7th October). Inter-district travel within the Sabah has been banned and the 4 districts of Lahad Datu, Kunak, Tawau and Semporna are still placed under TEMCO.
