Digi revamps budget postpaid plans with more data and complicated bonuses

Digi has just announced a revision to its sub-RM60 postpaid plans which now come with more data plus extra bonuses. Formerly known as Digi’s JomStart, the new affordable postpaid offering is now renamed to Digi Postpaid Start and it starts from RM38/month.

According to Digi, the revised plans – Postpaid 38 and 58, offer unlimited calls plus generous amount of data with no-speed caps and weekend data quota splits. On top of that, you’ll be rewarded with more data the longer you stay on with Digi.

New Digi Postpaid 58

On Digi Postpaid 58, the plan comes with 15GB of base high-speed data and up to 20GB/month of loyalty bonus which varies depending on the tenure of subscription. After every 6 months, you’ll receive an additional 5GB/month of data up to 4 times.

On top of that there’s also additional free 15GB Internet bonus 365 which is split evenly across 30 days. This means you’ll get extra 500MB of data each day.

SMS is not included and is charged at 10 sen each. Meanwhile, the unlimited voice calls are applicable to all networks. If you have leftover data from the previous month, you can carry over up to 1GB to the following month.

If all that extra bonus data sounds confusing, you’re not alone. Digi has provided with a table to illustrate how much you’re getting each month. As shown above, you will receive a total of 30GB/month in the first 6 months of the tenure and it will increase by another 5GB/month until it becomes 50GB/month after 24 months. This is similar to the revised postpaid plans that were introduced in December.

However, do remember that the 15GB of internet bonus 365 isn’t something you can fully utilise at anytime as it is allocated at 500MB per day. According to Digi’s press release, the quota upgrades will automatically be granted to customers by 21st August 2020.

As a comparison, the previous Postpaid 58 plan had 10GB of base data but it also gets the same 20GB loyalty bonus. What’s different is that the old plan had a welcome bonus of 5GB for the first 6 month and it didn’t come with the 500MB/day extra bonus data. Overall, you’re getting more data with the new revised plan.

Digi Postpaid 38

If you want to spend less, there’s the Digi Postpaid 38 which appears to be exclusively available through Digi stores. For RM38/month, you’ll also get unlimited calls to all networks and 9GB of base high-speed data.

On top of that, it comes with Loyalty Bonus of up to 12GB/month. The plan also gets 7.5GB Internet Bonus 365 which is allocated at 250MB per day.

So when you first subscribe, you’ll enjoy a total of 16.5GB/month in the first 6 months and eventually you will receive up to 28.5GB/month after 24 months.

If you need more data, Digi is offering 1GB high-speed internet passes for only RM1 starting from 30th July 2020. To learn more about Digi Postpaid Start, you can check out the yellow telco’s postpaid page.

For those who prefer unlimited data at a lower monthly fee, Digi is offering unlimited data and calls on prepaid for only RM35/month. However, this plan is offered to selected customers through the MyDigi app’s “Box of Surprise”. However, the biggest catch is that speeds are capped at 3Mbps.
