This is the Redmi 7. Xiaomi’s new entry-level smartphone

The Redmi Note 7 is Xiaomi’s current mid-range contender that’s expected to be priced under RM1,000 when it comes to Malaysia. For those who are looking for something more affordable, there’s also a lower-spec Redmi 7. Before the device is announced, the Redmi 7 has already appeared online via a hands-on video in Vietnamese.

The 6-minute video clip has shown the Redmi 7 in its full glory. The device also comes in a glossy back finish that has a gradient effect. In terms of specs, the device features a 6.26″ display that has a tiny notch at the top for its 8MP selfie camera. Since it’s a cheaper device, the display pushes a HD+ resolution of 1520×720 pixels.

Under the hood, it gets a modest Snapdragon 632 processor which is a huge upgrade from the Redmi 6 which runs on a MediaTek P22 processor. The device that was shown in the video has 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, which is pretty generous for an entry-level device.

For imaging, it gets a 12MP main camera and there’s also a secondary shooter for depth effects. Powering the Redmi 7 is said to be a 4,000mAh battery and it still charges via a microUSB port. The device also gets a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as standard.

The hands-on video appears to be originated from Tony Phung Studio’s YouTube channel but the clip has been taken down. We don’t know when the Redmi 7 will be announced but we do know that the bigger Redmi Note7 is coming to Malaysia on the 19th March 2019.
