When Huawei introduced its new Mate 20 series, it no longer supports microSD card expansion. Instead, they have introduced a new Nano Memory card solution that shares the same dimensions as a nano SIM card.

If need more storage for your Mate 20 or Mate 20 Pro, you can buy the NM cards in Malaysia starting next week at Huawei Experience stores as well as their official online store.

For the Malaysian market, we are only getting the 128GB NM card for now and it’s priced at RM298 per piece. In China, the NM Card is also available in 64GB and 256GB options.

As you would expect for a new card format, it’s more expensive than a microSD card. At the moment, a 128GB SanDisk Extreme microSD card is listed at RM210 on Lazada and you could get it as low as RM139.90 on 11.11.

According to Huawei, the NM card has a read speed of 90MB/s and write speed of 70MB/s which is sufficient for 4K video recording. The NM Card is currently supported on the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 X. Take note that the NM card will occupy the second nano-SIM slot so you can’t use two SIM cards and an NM card at the same time.
