UPDATE: BlackBerry KEY2 has been officially launched! Details here.

For those who enjoy typing on a physical keyboard, the latest Blackberry KEY2 is launching in Malaysia today. For those who are eager to get this productivity tool, the official Malaysian pricing has been revealed ahead of the event.

The image above was shared on a local BBM group and it indicates that the QWERTY device will be priced at RM2,599 in Malaysia. As a comparison, the previous KEYone was officially priced at RM2,688 (inclusive of 6% GST).

The BlackBerry KEY2 retains the same signature BlackBerry keyboard but they have done a couple of design tweaks to offer an improved typing experience. The individual keys are now 20% taller with a matte finish and they have also improved the spacing for the keys as well. To recap on the specs, it retains a similar 4.5″ 3:2 display that pushes a 1620×1080 pixels resolution.

Under the hood, it now runs on a more powerful Snapdragon 660 processor that’s mated to 6GB of RAM and it comes with either 64GB or 128GB of storage. In the camera department, the KEY2 now gets a dual-camera setup consisting of a 12MP f/1.8 main camera and a secondary 12MP f/2.6 unit that offers 2X optical zoom. For selfies, the device gets an 8MP front-facing camera.

Powering the KEY2 is a 3,500mAh battery which supports QuickCharge 3.0 and USB PD 2.0 charging via USB-C. Out of the box, it runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo.

Stay tuned for more details as we will be there at the local launch. If you haven’t already, you can follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

in 2018, mid range will be best seller. Spending 2.5k on a SD 660 phone, the mind boggles..

In 2018, there are still people shop for a handphone just by looking at spec sheet.. That's mind boggling.

Not surprising, since they all look the same nowadays.

While you can say for "the rest" of the phones… you can't really say this blackberry looks the same as others in the market.

Yes, excluding Blackberry. Otherwise they mostly look like iphones, even the arrangement of the dual cameras.

Beautiful phone, at least something different from the regular glass screens. Price is subjective and it is not a given that a phone priced RM2.5k will have snapdragon 855 or so. Every product has a market or niche, and consumers have a right to buy or not…

Tera

Nothing wrong with pricing. Niche market, niche pricing. These are for physical keyboard enthusiast. The rest of you can continue to crave for iPad sized phones.

Hope they are bringing in the dual Sim 128 G model
