VAIO laptops are coming back to Malaysia

4 years ago Sony announced that they were parting ways with VAIO Computer Business and VAIO Corporation was formed to take over the PC business.

From that day onwards, we didn’t see much VAIO laptops around as they were only available in selected markets including Japan. However, this is about to change as VAIO is set to make a comeback to Malaysia very soon.

Just recently, Nexstgo Company Limited announced that they’ve just obtained the license agreement from VAIO Corporation to manufacture, sell, market, and service VAIO laptops in Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan. This is the same company that introduced the colourful Avita-branded laptops.

In conjunction with the partnership, Nexstgo will be launching 2 new VAIO laptops, the VAIO S11 and VAIO S13. Both the S11 and S13 retains the iconic design from the old Sony VAIO Pro Series holding on its thin and lightweight structure.

Both laptops run on the 8th Generation Intel Core i5 or i7 Processor and installed with either Windows 10 Home or Pro editions.

The VAIO S11 is the smallest of the lot and it weighs only 850 grams. It has an 11.6″ FHD IPS display that pushes 1920 x 1080 resolution with Intel UHD Graphics 620. It comes with either 8GB or 16GB of RAM and an SSD internal storage up to 512GB.

The S13 pushes a 13.3″ FHD IPS, 1920 x 1080 resolution display and the rest of the specs are quite similar to the S11. It comes with 4GB to 16GB of RAM and SSD internal storage options of up to 512GB. The S13 is still incredibly light at only 1.07kg.

The VAIO S11 and S13 are set to launch in Hong Kong and Taiwan at the initial stage around July 2018, followed by a gradual roll-out to other countries in the SEA region. We are told that they are planning to enter Malaysia by August this year. Since Nexstgo has the rights to manufacture VAIO laptops, we could expect more models for our region.
