Samsung Galaxy S8 Official Pre-order promotion

As a pre-order promo, Samsung is giving away exclusive goodies worth over RM900. You’ll get a Limited Edition Starter Kit (clear cover, a screen protector, a wireless stand and a USB Type-C cable), a 5,100mAh Battery Pack and Samsung Protection Plus. The protection program comes with 1-year screen crack warranty (one-time replacement) and an extra 1-year extended warranty.

To secure your unit, you’ll need to pay a deposit of RM300 (debit or credit card) on Samsung Malaysia’s Galaxy S8 Pre-order page between 10:00am on 11 April until 11:59pm on 13 April. When submitting your order, you’ll be required to select your preferred colour and pick up location for your new device. The Galaxy S8 will officially be available in Malaysia on 5 May 2017 but those who pre-order can get it a day earlier on 4 May.

Apart from Samsung, there are other pre-order promotions coming from Celcom, Digi, Maxis, U Mobile and Yes. Also participating are e-commerce and on-ground retailers such as Lazada, 11street, Courts Mammoth, Harvey Norman and Senheng.

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ pricing are more expensive than the previous models but you’re getting a much larger screen with double the storage capacity. Folks in Singapore are able to pre-order the Galaxy S8/S8+ starting 7 April and it will be available for collection on 22 April 2017. In Singapore, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are priced at S$1,148 (about RM3,632) and S$1,298 (RM4,106) respectively. In terms of pre-order freebies, it looks like we are getting a better deal as Samsung Singapore is only offering a Wireless Charger Convertible worth S$118 while stocks last.

To recap on the specs, the Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8″ display and a 3,000mAh battery, while the Galaxy S8+ comes with a larger 6.2″ display and a 3,500mAh battery. The rest of the phone are identical on both models with a 10nm Exynos 8895 Octa-Core processor (Snapdragon 835 for US market) that’s mated to 4GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB of storage onboard which is expandable via microSD up to 256GB on its hybrid dual-SIM slot.

In terms of camera, the front gets an updated 8MP f/1.7 shooter with auto-focus while the rear retains a 12MP f/1.7 dual-pixel camera which is similar to the Galaxy S7/Note7. Both models support Samsung’s Adaptive Fast Charging over USB Type-C as well as wireless charging which supports PMA/WPC standards. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can check out our hands-on and first impressions of the Galaxy S8.

Wow… the price?!

Yup… sticking with my trusty Note 4 for another year then.

    Choiza

Half agree… only thing i miss bout Note4 is the removeable battery.
But u cant get waterproof hp if the batt' is not sealed.
    Gain some… lost some… i guess.

      NoName

The Galaxy S5 has a removable battery and is water resistant

        C0pycat

        Water resistant is not waterproof

        Anthony

Most S5 had broken usb port covers that made it losses its water resistant capability. S7 edge and S8 need not worry about flaps nor covers. That is if u find it worthy of ur money to spend on.

No more price discounts this time round… but then again it maybe a good thing that Samsung doesn’t offer price discounts for pre order early birds to reduce number of scalpers.

If manufacturer is'kind' enough to offer you battery pack during purchase, you must realise your fate.

samsung wasnt able to squeeze in the adequate battery size for galaxy 8, due to Samsung Burnt 7 last year……

Get diskaun and use that discount money to buy anker powercore+ 20000 mah is better than cheap samsung 5100 mah powerbank.

Skchow

Great price to the package that samsung had offer.

HP. enthusiast

Waiting for Sony XZ Premium or just grab Huawei P10/Plus for Android phones. It is sad that this Samsung S8/S8+ is not my cupcakes unlike their previous S7 Edge; the former king of phone in 2016.

Disadvantages:
I) fingerprint scanner on the front is changed to arbitrary rear position.
II) retina scanner is supposed to cover a shortcoming of front fingerprint scanner not as a main feature.
III) Super overpriced in our saturated market.

LG G6 might be a better deal if you don’t mind fingerprint scanner on the rear and slightly older processor. I will pass on this Samsung S8/S8+, next Galaxy S or Note series please.

Funny how the rest of the world are jealous with what was offered for our pre-order gifts & perks lol

Malaysians will always complain even if Samsung give RM2K freebies or bigger discount. Most of people who complain are not even Samsung potential customer.

      Chip

Because good pre-order history for Samsung in Malaysia I guess. Most Malaysian don't afraid to spend money weh, that's why Malaysia have the highest household debt in SEA.

Lol

People make noise when Samsung give RM900++ free gifts for first customers in Malaysia. Now people say Samsung Malaysia has best preorder promotion in the world still not enough.

Apple never give discount and free gift. But Apple fans in Malaysia don’t mind paying double price from scalpers to be first to use iPhone. #RIPLogic

is anyone getting slightly red tint screen for their S8?

kate

Screen mode (after software update)
1.I have adjusted the color balance slider slightly to the left
2.Red slider has been adjusted slightly to the left
3.Screen edge color balance has been also adjusted slightly to the left

So now the color tone at the center of the screen has been fixed well (it looks naturally white from my eyes view) but when tilting the phone slightly to the left, right, down or up, the color tone turns a bit warmer like more to red or pink color & around the edge of the screen, red or pink tone is noticeable all the time regardless of angle.

for my case after the software update & manual color adjustment, the color tone at the center of the screen has been fixed well (it looks naturally white from my eyes view) but when tilting the phone slightly to the left, right, down or up, the color tone turns a bit warmer like more to red or pink color & around the edge of the screen, red or pink tone is noticeable all the time regardless of angle.
