“Free App of the Week” is back on Google Play Store

Google has now included a new section to its Play Store for Android versions. We have seen paid games and apps go on sale temporarily which has resulted in many great deals. But that means you still have to pay for it. This new section will feature paid apps that have become free.

Dubbed ‘Free App of the Week’, this section will now highlight a new paid app each week, allowing users to download it for free. To access this section, all you have to do is scroll down on the ‘Apps’ page of Play Store. The promotion will only last a limited time, so you may have to keep an eye on it.

As of now, Google has not specified if this roll-out will be made global any time soon. Currently it is only available in the US. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Back in 2015, Google had a free weekly app promotion as well. But it seems to have died off. Perhaps this is a resurrection of that idea?

First to be up in the new section is Card Wars – Adventure Time, a game that’s based on a Cartoon Network hit show. It used to cost USD 2.99, but Android users in America can download it at no charge for now.
