Apple may be replacing the iPhone SE with a larger iPhone

We’re received unconfirmed but very convincing information that Apple may be introducing a new iPhone soon. It’s not going to be the successor to the iPhone 7 range instead it could very well be the model that will be replacing the iPhone SE as the cheapest iPhone you can get.

A document provided by a reliable source, shows a very convincing, current and official looking cheat sheet of an iPhone 6 variant that we’ve never seen before. The document listed the specifications and features of a 32GB iPhone 6. iPhone fans will know that the iPhone 6 was only available in 16, 64 and 128GB versions when it was launched three years ago. The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus was discontinued last year when the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were announced.

This is interesting because last year, Apple introduced the iPhone SE, which had a 4-inch display but with almost identical hardware to the iPhone 6s. At launch, the iPhone SE was the cheapest new iPhone you could get. The iPhone SE was also the smallest iPhone you could get. It’s one of the smallest smartphones you can get, period (side note: Apple’s other small iPhone, the iPhone 5s which has been discontinued since the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus was launched is still available for you to buy. You can get one for as low as RM1,099 at Apple resellers). This new information could mean that Apple’s gamble on the small form factor didn’t work and they need a larger entry-level model – this 32GB iPhone 6 could be it.

The 32GB iPhone 6 retains much of the original hardware, which means you get 4.7-inch display, 8MP rear camera, a 1.2MP front camera, an A8 chip and a 1,810mAh battery. Nothing fancy there, but what’s interesting to note is that this new iPhone 6 variant – if it is official – will get iOS 10 right out of the box and there may be just one colour available, Gold.

Of course, all this is unconfirmed now but going by how accurate our source has been in the past, I’m thinking that Apple will make an announcement soon.

Thanks to our anonymous tipster for the tip!
