LG is expected to show off something big on the eve of MWC 2017 at Barcelona. Likely to be its next flagship, the LG G6, this device would be a significant jump from its previous flagship especially the current modular G5.
What you’re seeing is the purported LG G6 which comes with thinner bezels. While it isn’t as bezel-less as the crazy Mi MIX, it has enough space to house an earpiece while the selfie camera and proximity sensors are at the right place. We have no idea how the bottom looks like but the screen should be pretty close to edge.
It will come with a 5.7 inch QHD+ LCD display which pushes 2880×1440 resolution. With an odd 18:9 display aspect ratio, the LG G6 is going to be a skinny and tall, allowing a phablet screen size with a narrower width for better single handed use. That’s like how Apple’s iPhone grew taller from a 3.5″ iPhone 4S to a 4.0″ iPhone 5. We are not sure how this would affect the software interface but this isn’t the first time LG has played with weird screen aspect ratios. Remember the LG Vu?
The LG G6 is expected to get a dual-camera system at the rear along with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The modular design would be scrapped in favour for better dust and water resistance. In case you’re wondering, it still comes with a headphone jack.
Does LG have what it takes to beat the next Samsung Galaxy? We’ll find out next month.
