The Samsung Galaxy J (2016) series is now getting a boost with the arrival of its Galaxy J7 Prime. This is the upgraded version of the current Galaxy J7 and it is available now at all Samsung authorised outlets for RM1,199.

The IPS display on the Galaxy J7 Prime retains the same 5.5″ size but it now pushes Full HD resolution instead of just HD 720p with the standard Galaxy J7 (2016). In terms of design, the Galaxy J7 Prime gets a metal unibody exterior for a more upmarket look. This also means that the 3,300mAh battery is non-removable. The processor is listed to be a 1.6GHz Octa-Core unit (likely Exynos) and it gets 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of storage. That’s more than the standard Galaxy J7 2016 for Malaysia which came with just 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. If you need more, you can expandable it via microSD up to 256GB extra.

For taking pictures, the rear gets a 13MP f/1.9 shooter while the front gets an 8MP f/1.9 camera which supports wide selfie. Like the other Galaxy J series models, it also features Ultra Data Saving Mode (UDS) which helps to reduce data consumption by compressing data and restricting unwanted background usage. The home button also gets a fingerprint sensor which was lacking on the standard Galaxy J7. For Malaysia, the Galaxy J7 Prime is available in two dual-tone colour options – White/Gold and Black.
