LG is working on a buttonless fingerprint sensor

As cool as they are, fingerprint sensors still aren’t perfect. They’re usually small, either placed on the back or the front of a device and oftentimes needs a dedicated button. LG’s apparently got a fix for that, as they’re developing a fingerprint sensor that lives just under your mobile’s cover glass.

The sensor literally requires no button, being seamlessly integrated into the glass. Its said to be much more accurate with a 0.002 percent failure rate, and being embedded in such a manner protects the sensor from physical damage and water.

We don’t know when the tech will be hitting the market though, as LG hasn’t revealed when it will be releasing it and who might be adopting the technology into their mobiles. But it is possible that we might see this in the next batch of smartphones if LG manages to get anybody on-board for this new fingerprint scanner.

Do you think this would replace conventional fingerprint scanners on smartphones? let us know in the comments.
