We recently reported that Samsung‘s thinnest smartphone, the Galaxy A8 was well on its way, with the potential pricing and launch date getting leaked. Now thanks to our tipster @KevinNgTK, we know that it might be priced at RM 1,888 and might be coming sooner than we think since it was spotted in SIRIM’s database. The device is reported to be launching in China July 17th.
Considering the current model, the Samsung Galaxy A7 is priced at RM 1,499, this is a rather big leap upwards in terms of pricing but the Galaxy A8 does have slightly better specs than its predecessor on top of being slightly larger. It’s also a lot thinner, coming in at 5.9mm as opposed to the Galaxy A7’s 6.3mm thickness. But the device will be featuring the looks and some of the features of its more premium brother the Samsung Galaxy S6.
To recap the specs, the device will have an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor mated to 2GB RAM as well as 16GB of expandable storage. For the camera you will be getting a 16 megapixel ISOCELL main shooter with a 5 megapixel selfie snapper up front. The device will be sporting a 5.7 inch Super AMOLED display at 1080p as well as a fingerprint scanner, 3,050 mAh battery and is set to run Android 5.1 Lollipop with TouchWiz on top.
Also the devices we believe to be the Samsung Galaxy J7 (SM-J700F/DS) and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 10 inch (SM-T815Y) have also passed SIRIM certification, so does that mean we might be seeing any of these three devices in the Malaysian market soon?
