Smart phone makers are often looking at ways to increase the battery life of their devices. Fast charging sure does help to minimise the waiting time but nothing beats having to use the device for a full day without the need of carrying a power bank.

Apart from optimising power consumption, the common solution is to fit a high capacity battery into a smart phone. Now Chinese maker Gionee, that has an obsession of making ultra-thin smart phones has a different approach in mind. Like the teaser picture above suggests, Gionee thinks that having two batteries is better than one.

Called as the M5, the new Gionee smart phone is said to feature 2 batteries inside. Without giving further details, Gionee reckons that it would provide up to 4 days of usage before requiring a charge. It isn’t clear if the 2 batteries are pushing the same power output or if they are of the same capacity. If Gionee can make a smart phone that’s both thin and enduring enough to last for 4 days, that would be an incredible feat which most users would drool over.

Apart from the M5, Gionee is preparing to launch its new Elife E8 that boasts a camera that can produce a 100MP image. Obviously there would be some software based resampling involved and it is said to be powered by a 2GHz Octa-Core MT6795 processor. We expect more details of its E8 and M5 to surface in the next couple of weeks before its announcement.
