Remember this familiar power bank? ASUS has revealed an improved version during its Zenfone 2 regional launch that’s expected to be released for our South East Asian market.
Similar to Xiaomi’s popular powerbanks, the ZenPower uses an aluminium body casing but it differentiates itself with a more boxy shape. It is also available in 5 different anodised aluminium colours such as black, gold, red, blue and silver. For added protection, there are optional rubber sleeves available too. Dimension wise, the ZenPower claims to be about the size of a credit card and it weighs 215 grams, which is slightly lighter than the 10,400mAh Mi Power Bank at 250g.
Internally, ASUS uses Panasonic battery cells with 10,050mAh capacity and you can check its battery levels from its 4 LED lights by pressing its huge power button. There’s only a single micro USB and one full size USB output but the 10,050mAh ZenPower supports quick charge by pushing 2.4Amps at 5V, instead of the usual 2.0/2.1Amps output from standard chargers or power banks. To charge the PowerBank itself is a standard 2Amps input which takes 5.5 hours to charge according to its official brochure.
No word on its availability and pricing yet, but it could make an appearance during our local Incredible ZenDay event on 9th May.
