The Oppo N1 mini with its unique rotating camera is available starting today throughout its dealers in West Malaysia. Meanwhile those over at East Malaysia may need to wait a while and it is likely to be available right after the Hari Raya holidays.

Priced at RM1,398, the Oppo N1 mini is the smaller sibling of the original Oppo N1. With a 5″ HD 720p screen, the N1 mini is more practical to hold compared to its larger 5.9″ sibling . In terms of specs, it gets a mid-spec 1.6GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 processor that’s mated to 2GB of RAM. There’s 16GB of on-board storage which unfortunately isn’t expandable.

While the camera is a similar 13MP shooter as its bigger brother, the N1 mini gets additional features including Animated GIF and a UltraHD mode which produces a higher 24MP image. Another plus point is that the N1 mini supports 4G LTE which was lacking on the original N1. Out of the box, it runs on a Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and keeping the lights on is a adequate 2,140mAh capacity battery.

Perhaps the biggest conundrum is the price. With an extra RM200, you can get the Oppo Find 7a that comes with significantly better specs. So who should be getting the N1 mini? If you love taking Selfies, the 13MP shooter offers the highest pixel count for front facing shots. In addition, the N1 mini also comes with photo beautification tools which is likely to be a hit among the ladies.

You can see how the Oppo N1 mini compares side by side with other 5-incher smart phones over here.
