If you’re looking to buy a high-end phablet that’s not a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the LG G Pro 2 is an ideal alternative worth considering. While LG Malaysia has been rather quiet for some time now, enterprising grey importers like DirectD has started selling the 5.9″ phablet at RM2,399. The version that they are offering is the D838 model which comes with 32GB of storage and 4G LTE support that works with our local 1800MHz and 2600MHz bands.

To recap on the specs, the front comes with a large 5.9″ Full HD IPS LCD display and overall feels slightly wider (2.7mm) than the Galaxy Note 3 due to its thinner bezel design. Powering the device is a 2.3GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 3GB of RAM and a 3,200mAh capacity battery which are similar to the Galaxy Note 3. The front also gets a 2.1MP camera while the back features a 13MP main camera that comes with OIS (Optical Image Stabiliser) for more steadier shots. Like the new high-end smart phones, the G Pro 2 is also capable of shooting 4K videos.

Another cool feature on the LG G Pro 2 is its Knock Code unlocking. This allows you to unlock the device with a sequence of taps on the display while it’s off. The Knock Code can be customised up to 8 taps.

Since this is a grey-imported AP set unit, it comes with a 24-months local warranty covered by BrandStar. It is available with a choice of 3 colours – Titan, Red and White. For more info, you can check out DirectD’s LG G Pro 2 listing on lelong.

To get to know the LG G Pro 2 better, do check out our first impressions from the recent Mobile World Congress. You can see how it compares with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in our hands-on video after the break.
