Check out this WiMAX Samsung Galaxy S II developed for use on Japan’s KDDI au network in Japan. Aside from the additional WiMAX radio, this variant of Samsung’s hottest selling device also gets a processor bump from the 1.2Ghz dual-core in the standard S II to a 1.4Ghz dual-core in the WiMAX version. The display has been uprated too, from the 4.3-inch Super AMOLED that we get here to a pretty awesome 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD pushing 1280×720 pixels display. Other specs include an 8MP and 2MP cameras, full 1080p HD video recording as well as NFC.
The WiMAX Galaxy S II has all the makings of a very desirable smartphone. If we’re not mistaken Japan’s WiMAX network run on the 2.5GHz frequency band while the ones in Malaysia run on 2.3Ghz. With a little tweak and testing, it’s very possible for Samsung to make a version of this WiMAX S II that can run on Malaysia’s WiMAX network.
There’s definitely a market for this WiMAX Galaxy S II in Malaysia. Of course we’re simplifying things here and there’s a lot of things that a local WiMAX operator needs to do to make this device work in Malaysia but the point of the matter is that it can happen and we have a WiMAX operator that has proven itself to be able to make amazing things happen. The question is whether they want to or not. Let’s hope they say Yes.

u don't need it. coz M'sia haven't roll out LTE network commercially. pointless to have a LTE enabled device without any LTE network.
Firstly let me clarify this statement – "we have a WiMAX operator that has proven itself to be able to make amazing things happen". Are you even serious? Do you know how many actual paying subscribers they have? A layman can tell you that when there is no load to the network, the speeds will be good. Pay per Use? Smart Model? Perhaps….but it is the most expensive Internet Provider out there
What happen to your non-biased articles? You're losing a lot of credibility here, especially knowing who you are and whose payroll you're under. For real, I have worked with you on YES events and have much respect for you until recently
First time I hear low paying subscriber is a concern for a user. So you complain XXX sucks because not much PAYING SUBS?? This expose what type of "user" you truly are.
Which one better? performance is fast because less subscribers or slow performance because too many subscribers? The rates are high but this is prepaid and they can deliver faster speed so you get what you pay for. You dun expect good to be cheap and cheap to be good.
Actually i prefer yes not offer unlimited plan and end up congested like others.
I dont know why ppl say bias if sc recommend yes to offer sgs2. Is there any other wimax network offer mobile voice call? I dont think so.
Anyone out there knows why YES keep on delaying the launch of their android phone? I would definitely resubscribe YES if they come out with a more affordable plan, say 30% cheaper.
Also waiting until neck long long. Almost a year but Android phone not out yet.
If it doesn't run on dual core and Android 4.0, who is going to buy?
I don't think Yes is going to release an android phone. That is just vapourware.
WIth smartphone keep getting replaced so fast, it is better they tie up with samsung to bring in wimax phone than to build their own. Even android maker cannot keep up with latest version and I don't think yes is able to update as fast.
unfortunately, i believe your optimism that the phone will be able to work in malaysia's wimax networks is a bit unfounded. the ability for the device to detect frequencies outside of its 2.5GHz channel greatly depends on the filter that is used in the wimax chipset.
it is more likely that samsung did not use a wideband filter. why? coz it's a whole lot cheaper
the specs are alike at&t skyrocket except the 4g. may i know, is there any possibility s2 skyrocket landing at malaysia? thx..open ur page everyday.. keep it up..thx
