Sony Xperia S trumps iPhone 4S in screen pixel density

The iPhone 4 and 4S boasts the highest pixel density of any screen. That was before the Sony Xperia S came along. Pushing a resolution of 1280×720 pixels from the 4.3-inch screen, the Xperia S 338ppi pixel density trumps the iPhone’s 326ppi. Also, considering how vibrant the displays on the Xperia arc, arc S and the ray are, we’re expecting the Xperia S to be even more stunning and pin sharp, dare we say, much better than what the iPhone 4S can muster.
Here are PPI counts for some of the popular devices at the moment:
Galaxy Nexus – 316ppi @ 4.65-inch 1280x720pixels
Sony Ericsson Xperia ray – 296ppi @ 3.3-inch 854x480pixels
Samsung Galaxy Note – 284ppi @ 5.3-inch 1280x720pixels
Motorola RAZR – 256ppi @ 4.3-inch 960x540pixels
Nokia Lumia 800 – 252ppi @ 3.7-inch 800x480pixels
Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S – 233pp @ 4.2-inch 854x480pixels
Samsung Galaxy SII – 218ppi @ 4.3-inch 800x480pixels
Of course numbers are just part of the equation, how the device looks, feel and performs are the things that make the difference. Sony Ericsson delivered a solid line up in 2011 and with the Xperia S, it looks like they’ve just only warmed up. The Xperia S has all the makings of a great phone and so we’re expecting a lot from this device and Sony for 2012.

ip4 itself already has ppi more than 300, so if ipad does its not a big deal, im saying why is it so great some more to have a ppi higher than ip4 considering ip4 has more than 300ppi already. u cant get it is it.

if u watch the apple keynote, apple wont likely to do useless thing to make a higher pixel density than current one unless to cope with the increase in screen size. even when i compare the ip with phone with pixel density near 300 like 280+ i cant see any difference to the ip also. so what a big deal having ppi greater than ip. u idiot.

copying 1 think is copy, copying many thing is research. android manufacturers doing research on ip. u cant deny that when people talking and comparing on a smartphone, if ip isnt in the list it would sure be weird and i know android fanatic like u wouldnt wanna miss to see how android beat ip successfully and can make your mindset ease that u didnt take wrong movement on picking an android. like it or not, if u ask a strangers somewhere about phone, they only know to say ip and if u ask about android phone they can only say galaxy then stop cuz they dont know theres how many range of these phone. come on keep thumb down android fan.

The question was not answered. I don't even know what you're saying in your comment. You're saying the iPhone is famous, and without a famous phone, the smartphone wouldn't have gone so far?

It took apple what, two year? just to copy android's notification bar.
here's what i predict for ip5: it'll be about NFC. and apple will probably slap a new name on it, like what they did with facetime, and pretend like it's a first.

more than human limits of 300 already cant differentiate so the number higher wont make much diff. just because its higher than iphone, a news is made. iphone really show that it sets the standard of smartphone till now.
