Update: The Sensation XE is expected to retail for EU589 or about RM2,480. Ouch! (Thanks @samchoo for the headsup)

HTC has officially revealed the HTC Sensation XE which is a result of their partnership with Beats Electronics, the maker of Beats by Dr. Dre headphones.

The Sensation XE is not just a mere music rebranded HTC Sensation as it comes with 1.5GHz dual core processor and larger 1,730mAh battery. It will also be bundled with either 8GB or 16GB of microSD storage depending on markets.

The screen still uses a 4.3″ Super LCD with qHD resolution. There’s a 8MP camera at the back and a VGA camera at the front. RAM is still similar at 768MB.

When paired with its special set of Beats by Dr. Dre in-ear headphones, it will automatically switch to a custom “Beats by Dr. Dre sound profile” for optimal experience.

No pricing details and market availability are known at the moment. Head after the break for more pics.

More information on the Sensation XE over at HTC.

Price increase from original Sensation is inevitable, the beats earphones are expensive stuffs. If the above estimated price is accurate, then it's about RM200 extra over the original Sensation. Which sounds a good deal considering the XE comes with better internals and also the beats earphones. Though how many people would buy it for the beats remained to be seen, I'd probably just grab the original sensation, lolz…

I dun understand why. If they can manage to fit in 1GB of RAM into the the EVO 3D, why didn't they put it into the Sensation XE? Mind boggling.

While I am indifferent about the beats, what I want to know is if it has upgraded sound hardware and processing capabilities. A better collaboration would be HTC and Cowon, then I would be in phone heaven. I need a phone with a decent headphone amp.

yup , the only phone i can remember that has good music playing capability with decent amount of bass punch is Sony W550i . lol .

It's all just a matter of tweaking the software. A developer just confirmed that the original Sensation has better sound than the XE. HTC made the default sound profile on the XE worse so that the "Beats by Dr.Dre' profile sounds nicer.

I really like HTC phones, really cool designs. I hope that big battery does the trick and those headphones that let you answer a call are a great addition to this phone.
