For new subscribers, TM is offering its Unifi Lite Plan with 100Mbps at RM129/month. However, it was reported that TM has recently updated their FAQ to indicate that the RM129/month pricing is only valid for the first 24 months.
We’ve just received an update that TM‘s current acting Group CEO (AGCEO), Datuk Bazlan Osman has resigned. He took the leading role after the resignation of the previous CEO, Dato Sri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly, in June this year. He has also given his notice of resignation as the Executive Director (ED) of TM which will take effect on 28 February 2019.Read the rest of this entry »

Malaysia has been through quite the fibre renaissance recently. Spearheaded by the nation’s largest fibre broadband provider — Telekom Malaysia — Unifi‘s Turbo initiative ushered in a new age of fibre for the country. Not only were ISPs across the board providing faster speeds than ever before, we’ve also seen a considerable reduction in price-per-Mbps so a high-speed fibre connection is now more affordable than ever too.
But, in the midst of this wonderful news, was fa big messy ball of yarn that was Unifi’s plan for rolling out the Unifi Turbo speed upgrades. At first, we were led to believe that this messy situation was inevitable, but subsequent fibre revamps by other ISPs like Maxis Fibre and TIME Fibre proved that this was a problem that was entirely avoidable. What went wrong?
Now is probably the best time to sign up for fibre broadband in Malaysia. You can get a 30Mbps broadband plan from as low as RM79/month, or 100Mbps broadband with unlimited quota for only RM129/month.
Unfortunately, not everyone is enjoying faster speeds at lower prices. There are still more than 1 million TM customers that are still connected on Streamyx.
In conjunction with the Malaysia Day celebrations, Unifi Mobile has just introduced a new unlimited data promo that gives you 30 days of unlimited data for only RM55. This is applicable on its #BEBAS prepaid plan that offers no expiry on credit provided that the line is kept active.
TM has officially unveiled its new affordable 100Mbps Fibre broadband plan that offers unlimited quota at RM129/month. This is essentially a 10Mbps Unifi Lite plan at RM129/month that’s “turboed” with 10X faster speeds. As a comparison, Unifi used to charge RM329/month for 100Mbps.
UPDATE: TM’s new 100Mbps Fibre broadband plan is now official. Details at the end of the post.
It appears that TM is following Maxis’ footsteps in making their 100Mbps Fibre Broadband plan more affordable to the masses. Currently priced at RM329/month, the 100Mbps Unifi plan is double the price of what Maxis and TIME broadband are offering but that could change in the next couple of days.
Unifi Basic was definitely one of the most interesting plans TM revealed during their big announcement back in July. I’d say it’s definitely in the top three because it made Unifi more affordable and more accessible to a much larger pool of people. However, the thing about Unifi Basic was that it came with an income requirement which certainly limited its adoption potential.
Today though, there is good news for those who were looking forward to the affordable Unifi Basic plan but wasn’t within the income bracket, because TM’s just announced a big change to the entry-level fibre plan.
In conjunction with our national day, Telekom Malaysia (TM) has unveiled its “TM Sejahtera Malaysia” campaign to celebrate Malaysia’s diverse cultures. The Merdeka campaign combines six different languages and two videos together to create a unique experience.
TM’s Unifi Mobile is still free to register and you can order the SIM card for free. In case you missed it, it’s a prepaid service which promises that your credit will never expire, provided there’s usage every 90 days. If you plan on signing up, TM has revised their promo and they are offering only 1/5 of what they used to offer.
