The iPhone was introduced about 7 years ago by Steve Jobs which defined a new course for smart phones that we know today. Apple will be releasing a new iPhone model at the end of this year and they had just announced its latest iOS 8.
To showcase how iOS has progressed over the years, the Verge had compiled a highlight video from the very beginning when it was known as iPhone OS until the current iOS 8. Initially the iPhone OS was a very closed system and AppStore was only introduced in iPhone OS 2.0 where they finally open up to 3rd party app developers.
Copy and Paste function was lacking on the iPhone until it was finally introduced on iPhone OS 3.0. The mobile operating system then was renamed to iOS in 2010 when the iPad was first introduced.
We are not going to spoil the rest of the history lesson, so head after the break to watch the video.
Did Apple revolutionised smartphone user interface with the iOS 7? Was flat design an original Apple creation? Did Apple break new ground with the new interface? Many think so and many more think not.
This is an old topic and one that has been discussed to death — we know — but this new video from Kirby Ferguson, the amazing talent behind the “Everything is a Remix” video series, offers a some new perspective on who copied who.

Apple is giving its iPhone and iPads a new breath of life with its latest iOS 7 operating system. After launching several mobile devices since 2007, the iOS platform has been pretty much the same with minute changes here and there. With the competition stepping up from the Android, BlackBerry and even Windows Phone camp, a change is needed by Apple to keep its mobile devices on par with today’s growing need.
Without a doubt, the iOS platform is one of the easiest to use mobile OS out there. Simplicity has always been a key which allows users from either young or old to pick up an iPhone or iPad and start using it with rather minimal learning curve.
For power users particularly those who have been comfortable with other flexible mobile platforms, would be harder to please on iOS. Biggest challenge is how could Apple offer more control and features but yet maintain the simplicity that it is has been famous for?
