In conjunction with the upcoming 9.9 Super Sale on Lazada, ASUS is once again offering a promotion on two of their prominent devices, which is the flagship Zenfone 5z and the ASUS Zenfone Max Pro. If you are looking for a smartphone that won’t cost you a fortune, make sure you keep an eye out for them on Lazada this Sunday.
ASUS ZenFone 5z
As revealed yesterday, the ASUS ZenFone 5z is an affordable flagship smartphone that offers top-notch specs for less than RM1,900. If 6GB RAM and 128GB storage aren’t enough for you, it appears that ASUS Malaysia is also bringing their range-topping 8GB RAM and 256GB version of the ZenFone 5z very soon.
UPDATE: ASUS Malaysia is also introducing their high-spec 8GB RAM + 256GB storage version of the ZenFone 5z.
After introducing the mid-range ZenFone 5, ASUS Malaysia is expected to announce the ZenFone 5z on our shores very soon. Ahead of its official announcement, the official Malaysian price for this Snapdragon 845 powered flagship has been revealed on Lazada Malaysia.
UPDATE: The ASUS ZenFone 5 appears to be priced at RM1,299 in Malaysia.
Apart from the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro that’s launching in Malaysia very soon, the Taiwanese smartphone maker is finally introducing their ZenFone 5 series in Malaysia as well. Revealed at MWC 2018, this is their premium smartphone lineup that looks like an iPhone X.
I think something that a lot of people forget is that in technology, it’s not about who does it first, it’s about who does it best. Google wasn’t the first search engine, Apple wasn’t the first company to come up with a “smartphone”, and Facebook wasn’t the first social media network.
Being the first to bring something into the market is severely overrated and it looks like ASUS has realised that too. With its brand new smartphone — the ZenFone 5 — the company looks like it’s ditching all attempts at being first, or even original. Instead, they focused on borrowing the good bits from several of the top smartphone makers, tweaking them (in some cases, improving upon them), then combining all of it into a smartphone.
Sure, you could say that they’re just blatantly copying their competition’s homework, but I think it’s a stroke of genius and here’s why.
Asus kicked off its year with a big party at Mobile World Congress 2018 announcing three new phones, the ZenFone Lite, the ZenFone 5 and the flagship ZenFone 5Z. We’ll talk about the ZenFone Lite in a later post, for now I want to concentrate on the two more interesting models – the ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 5z.
The ZenFone 5 is the most intelligent smartphone Asus has ever made, or so they claim. The device was introduced with a range of what Asus claim is AI technology enhancing seven key performance aspects of the device – AI Display, AI Camera, AI Ringtone, AI Gallery, AI Charging, AI Boost, AI Photo Learning.
Before we go into details on the what these AI enhancements do, let’s talk about the specs of the ZenFone 5.
