Acer Predator Triton 700 review: The best purebred gaming laptop

You can’t have your cake and eat it too. For the most part, life is a barter trade where luxury demands hard work, perfection necessitates dedication, and power requires sacrifice. It’s a humbling principle that basically reminds you that you can’t have it both ways.

This is primarily the reason why purebred high-end gaming laptops never really interested me. Sure, they had all the power in the world but because of these high-powered components, the laptops needed to be enormous so those components could breathe.

There was no such thing as a no-compromise gaming laptop that was also super portable. Well, at least I didn’t think there was until I saw the Acer Predator Triton 700.

ASUS ZenBook 3 Deluxe review: Packs one helluva punch

Personally, when I think of desirable ultrabooks/thin, light and powerful laptops running Windows 10, I always think of devices like a spec-ed out Dell XPS 13, a ThinkPad X1 Carbon, or the high-end Lenovo Yoga convertibles.

As a low-key hipster (I’d say self-proclaimed but that’s so mainstream), I probably wouldn’t have considered the ASUS ZenBook 3 Deluxe. Why? I’m not too sure, but these devices never seemed particularly desirable to me.

iPhone 8 has rekindled my love for small smartphones

I’m all about big-screened smartphones. The extra real-estate, the more immersive media consumption experience, and the sheer amount of content you can view at a glance is awesome for a heavy user like me.

I thought, for the longest time, that I’d never be able to go back to a device with a screen smaller than 5 inches. Moving to a sub-5” smartphone sounded like an absurd downgrade to me…until I started using Apple’s iPhone 8. It turns out that it wasn’t so much the size that I minded — I was just using all the wrong small phones.

Nokia 8 review: Hype is the least of its problems

This is not a jaw-dropping phone that will shock the world.

If you were one of the people who thought that when Nokia launches its first flagship Android smartphone, they would remind the world why they were the best all those years ago. That they would spank the likes of Samsung and Apple, then I’d hate to be the one to break it to you but the Nokia 8 is not that phone.

Instead, the Nokia 8 is quite the opposite of a flashy flagship.

Western Digital MyPassport portable SSD review: One tough cookie

My problem with external storage devices is that I’m always worried that I’ll break them. Since I chuck them into backpacks and carry them around with me a lot, the chances of me dropping one are a lot higher than a hard disk that’s mounted in a desktop PC for example.

So, while I love the idea of being able to carry all my stuff around with me, I am not a fan of breaking that hard disk and losing all my data.

And this is where Western Digital’s My Passport external SSDs come into play. They come packed with one of my favourite features ever — shock resistance. Fingers of butter, meet your match.

Samsung Galaxy Note8 review: This is how you make a comeback

It’s hard to think of a smartphone that has had more expectation placed on it than the Samsung Galaxy Note8. Its disastrous predecessor left a scar in the South Korean electronics giant’s reputation so deep that I don’t know how long it will take before the world stops making “will it explode?” jokes.

So, if there was any smartphone that could redeem the company’s reputation in the eyes of its harshest critics, it has to be the Galaxy Note8. This phone needs to be the best phone Samsung has ever made. It needs to be incredible. It needs to be flawless.

Xiaomi Mi 6 review: Almost a no-brainer

It’s no secret that I wasn’t a big fan of last year’s Xiaomi Mi 5. I didn’t like how it performed, I didn’t like its camera and for the most part, I was quite annoyed that we got what felt like scraps instead of the proper flagship we hyped it up to be.

This year, as Malaysia finally gets its turn at the Xiaomi flagship Mi 6, it’s time to find out if they’ve learned their lessons.

OnePlus 5 review: Ignore the hate, this phone is awesome

Oh, man has the OnePlus 5 received a lot of hate. From benchmark cheating, all the way to sub-par camera performances that have led the public to call DxOMark’s credibility into question, OnePlus’ latest flagship hasn’t had the smoothest of launches.

But, while it’s easy to get caught up with all the hate, all the rage, and all the feelings of dissatisfaction surrounding this smartphone, a lot of people tend to forget one really, really important thing about this new flagship:

It’s a damn good smartphone.
