Targus introduces anti-bacteria accessories to help you work during the pandemic

Accessory manufacturer Targus has unveiled their Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2021) products, focusing on items that would help you work during the COVID-19 pandemic. These products include a UV-C LED Disinfection Light for your keyboard, as well as an antimicrobial backpack.

UV-C LED Disinfection Light

The ultraviolet lamp is meant to sit above your keyboard and mouse to “clean” them with UV-C light. It automatically switches on for five minutes every hour, and if you want, you can even stick your phone under the light to give it a UV-C bath.

But as doctors warn that UV lamps can be bad for the eyes as well as the skin, it might not be great for prolonged exposure. However, the UV-C LED Disinfection Light is motion-sensitive—so it’ll automatically shut off if you return to your desk before the disinfection is done.

The UV-C LED Disinfection Light is even named a CES 2021 Innovation Awards Honoree. It is scheduled to be released in March 2021 on its website, but the price hasn’t yet been announced.

2Office Antimicrobial Backpack

The 2Office backpack can hold laptops up to 17.3 inches, and has an antimicrobial coating on “key touchpoints”. Antimicrobial bags are often used by medical professionals and healthcare workers as it helps fight off germs.

Even though antimicrobial bags can be seen elsewhere, the one designed by Targus is made to carry all your office essentials—including a full-size keyboard. It’ll help reduce the chances of picking up illnesses whilst carrying your backpack to and from work.

The backpack is also is scheduled to be released in Spring 2021 on its website. The price hasn’t yet been announced, either.

Although these items don’t necessary kill COVID-19 completely, it helps to reduce the spread of infection at the workplace. Still, it is advisable to wear face masks, wash hands often and keep your social distance.
