COVID-19: 659 new cases, 1000 new recoveries and zero deaths today

Malaysia has recorded 659 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 31,547. Fortunately, there are no new deaths reported today and the death toll remains at 249.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,000 new recoveries and a total of 21,248 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 67.35% while the mortality rate is now 0.79%.

There are currently 10,051 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 83 patients are in ICU while 19 require respiratory support.

Out of the 659 new cases today, 1 is imported while 658 are transmitted locally. The imported case is a foreigner that arrived from Bangladesh. Sabah recorded the most with 529 new cases, followed by Selangor with 55 new cases, Negeri Sembilan with 25 new cases, Labuan with 12 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 11 cases.

There are no new clusters identified today. From the existing active clusters, the Rumah Merah cluster in Sabah recorded the most with 111 new cases, followed by the Kepayan prison cluster in Sabah with 26 new cases and the Kaya cluster which covers the Klang Valley, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka, with 17 new cases.
