COVID-19: 801 new cases and today, active cases now over 10,000

Malaysia has recorded 801 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 29,441. There are 8 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 246.

The Ministry of Health has reported 573 new recoveries and a total of 19,072 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 64.78% while the mortality rate is now 0.84%.

There are currently 10,123 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 94 are in ICU while 25 require respiratory support.

Out of the 801 new cases today, 2 are imported while 799 are transmitted locally. Sabah reported the most with 546 new cases, followed by Selangor with 89 cases, Labuan with 29 cases and Kedah with 28 cases. There are no new cases reported in Pahang, Melaka, Kelantan, Putrajaya and Perlis.

The Ministry has identified 4 new clusters today. This includes Seri Gaya cluster in Sabah, Greenhill cluster in Sarawak, Idaman cluster in Selangor and Bayu cluster.

Among all the active clusters reported today, Tembok cluster and Benteng clusters reported the most with 26 cases each, followed by the Kaya cluster with 21 new cases.
