Sony Xperia 1 II and Xperia 5 II Malaysia pricing revealed, starts from RM4,099

If you’re looking for a different flagship smartphone, Sony Malaysia will be offering its Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 Mark II series in the next couple of months. Ahead of its official local availability, Sony Malaysia has revealed its official retail pricing for the two new phones on their website.

Below is the official pricing for the new Sony Xperia devices in Malaysia:

Xperia 1 II 8GB RAM + 256GB storage – RM4,999
Xperia 5 II 8GB RAM + 256GB storage – RM4,099

As mentioned by Sony Malaysia previously, the Xperia 1 II will be available in November while the Xperia 5 II will be released a month later in December 2020. So far there’s no info on its pre-order or first sale promo and we expect Sony to throw in a couple of freebies to sweeten the deal.

Hardware Specs

Both the new Xperia 1 and 5 devices are quite similar in specs as both are powered by a Snapdragon 865. The devices feature a triple 12MP camera setup with ZEISS optics that consists of wide, ultra-wide and telephoto shooters. The new Xperia flagships also boasts Eye AF, 20fps burst mode and Cinematography Pro powered by CineAlta. Both also get a 4,000mAh battery that supports USB-PD charging via USB-C, microSD card expansion and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The biggest difference is the display as the Xperia 1 gets a 6.5″ 4K OLED HDR display that pushes a standard 60Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the smaller Xperia 5 gets a 6.1″ Full HD+ OLED HDR display that has a 120Hz refresh rate. With the Motion Blur reduction feature enabled, Sony claims that you can get a smooth visual experience for gaming equivalent to a 240Hz refresh rate on the Xperia 5 II.
