Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy M51 in India. This is the new top-of-the-line model of the Galaxy M series and it packs impressive hardware including a huge 7,000mAh battery.

As revealed earlier on Samsung Germany’s website, the device looks like a typical Galaxy A series phone with a rectangular camera bump at the rear. Upfront, the M51 features a 6.7” Full HD+ Super AMOLED Plus display that boasts a 78960:1 contrast ratio. There’s a punch-hole on the top of the screen which houses a 32MP Sony IMX616 front camera.

Under the hood, it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G that can be configured with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM. The device is offered only with 128GB of storage and you can expand it further with its dedicated microSD card slot.

In the camera department, the rear gets a quad-camera setup featuring a 64MP f/1.8 main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle shooter. It also has a 5MP macro camera and a 5MP depth sensor.

The key headlining feature is its 7,000mAh battery which is probably the biggest for a Samsung smartphone. According to the Korean smartphone maker, the device offers up to 34 hours of video playback or up to 24 hours of internet usage on a single charge.

It supports 25W fast charging via USB-C and a full charge from zero will take 115 minutes. For instant unlocking, the M51 comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and it also supports face unlock.

In India, the M51 is priced as follows:

6GB RAM + 128GB storage – INR 24,999 (about RM1,413)
8GB RAM + 128GB storage – INR 26,999 (about RM1,527)

As highlighted previously, the device has passed SIRIM‘s certification which is an indication that it’s coming to Malaysia very soon. Interestingly, NFC is listed in the certification but it isn’t clear if Samsung Pay will be supported.

Looking at the Indian market pricing, we are guessing that it could be priced around RM1,400-RM1,600 in Malaysia. Although the M51 appears to be the best mid-range offering from Samsung, it would face fierce competition from devices such as the Poco X3 NFC and even the flagship-class Poco F2 Pro which is now going for as low as RM1,499.
