If you are waiting to get the upcoming next-generation console by Sony, it may be time to get a new TV as Sony has announced its new line of Bravia TVs that are ‘Ready for PlayStation 5’.
The new tagline was created in partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment to make it easier for customers to select TVs that are optimised for the PS5. Among the first ‘Ready for PlayStation 5’ TVs from Sony include the Bravia X90H 4K HDR Full Array LED and Bravia Z8H 8K HDR Full Array LED models.
The X90H displays are available in four sizes: 55”, 65”, 75” and 85”. It displays images at 4K resolutions up to 120fps and has a low input lag of 7.2ms.
For gamers who demand the very best in Sony’s TV range, there is the Z8H. The 85” screen is said to be capable of displaying incredibly detailed 8K resolution images that are four times the resolution of 4K scenes offering rich depth, textures and details. Sony claims that even 4K and 2K images are upscaled close to 8K resolution thanks to its 8K X-Reality Pro feature.
Most importantly, the Z8H can play PS5 games at both 8K and 4K resolution, offering gamers the choice of extra detailed images or a faster frame rate of 120fps when playing in 4K.
Take note that the 120fps mode is supported upon updating it with a future firmware update. Also, while the TVs are able to support up to 120fps, the panel themselves push a maximum refresh rate of 60Hz.
According to Sony, the ability to play games in 4K at 120fps, even on a 60Hz panel would give players smoother and clearer movement for responsive gameplay.
By just plugging in an HDMI cable from the PS5 console to the TV, it will automatically switch to Bravia Game Mode. Within this mode, users can wake both TV and PS5 with the DualSense wireless controller at once, so they can get back to where they left off immediately. In addition, they are also able to control their PS5 using just the TV remote.
Both displays boast Sony’s Full Array LED that uses zones of LEDs lit independently to provide more realistic contrast by making light areas brighter and dark areas darker.
Beyond providing stunning imagery, the TVs are said to boast high-quality audio thanks to its X-balanced Speaker drives. Available on TVs from 65” and up, Sony’s Acoustic Multi-Audio feature includes two sound positioning tweeters at the back of the TV that enables sound to follow the action on the screen.
The Z8H is differentiated by its inclusion of S-Force Front Surround that virtually reproduces a multi surround speaker system within your TV so you can enjoy all the thrills of more immersive sound. It also comes with Voice Zoom, you can hear human speech clearly without having to turn up the volume – ideal for news bulletins and documentaries.
Other additional features exclusive to the Z8H include an embedded light sensor that optimises picture brightness to the room condition, boosting brightness when there is a lot of light and reducing it when it is dark.
As Android TVs, both the X90H and Z8H give users access to a whole host of different apps such as Youtube, Prime Video, Netflix and many more to get their entertainment. Users can also use their voice to navigate Android TV’s interface without having to reach for the remote.
They also come with Chromecast built-in so you can enjoy mobile apps from your smartphone on your TV too. It even works with Apple AirPlay, allowing users to stream video and audio to the X90H from an iPhone, iPad or Mac.
