During the launch of the OnePlus Nord, OnePlus has also introduced its first TWS ever, the OnePlus Buds. As seen on the earlier leaks, it gets an AirPod inspired design and comes in 3 different colours.

During the event, OnePlus shared that one of the biggest concerns with wireless headphones is battery life. To ensure users get uninterrupted audio experience, the OnePlus Buds offer up to 30 hours of total music playback and it connects via Bluetooth 5.0.

The earbuds themselves come with a 35mAh battery and offer up to 7 hours of listening time on a single charge. The total 30-hour figure includes recharging with the case which contains a 420mAh battery.

If the earbuds are solely charged within the case, a 10-minute charge is said to be enough to push 2 hours of music playback. However, if the case is being charged via USB-C, a quick 10-minute charge can push up to 10 hours of playback and a full charge will take around 80 minutes. Unfortunately, the case doesn’t support wireless charging.

The Buds feature a 13.4mm dynamic driver that promises to offer deeper bass. It also boasts 3D stereo with Dolby Atmos along with Dirac Audio Tuner support. According to the fine print, the Dolby Atmos feature is only supported when it is paired with the OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 7T, 7T Pro, 8 and 8 Pro devices. Meanwhile, Direct Audio Tuner is only supported on the OnePlus Nord.

OnePlus Buds Google Fast Pair

To control your music playback or to toggle your voice assistant, it supports double tap and long press gestures. For quicker setup, the Buds also supports Google Fast Pair.

The OnePlus Buds also feature environment noise cancellation which uses three mics and a unique noise cancellation algorithm to filter out background noise. This feature seems to work only for voice calls and it is not the same as active noise cancellation which can be enjoyed for music playback. The buds are also IPX4-rated splash-resistant and there’s also a Fnatic Mode which cuts down latency to 103ms for mobile gaming.

OnePlus Buds price

The OnePlus Buds are priced at USD 79 (about RM336) or EUR 89 (about RM435). It is available in white, grey and Nord Blue. At the moment, there are no details of its pricing and availability for the Malaysian market. For more info, you can check out the OnePlus Buds product page.
