RapidKL has announced that it is offering further discounts for its MyCity Pass in an effort to boost domestic tourism. The MyCity Pass is a short-term pass that provides unlimited rides for BRT, LRT, MRT and Monorail. This pass is only applicable to Malaysians and you must present your IC at the counter to purchase the pass.
With the new discount, you can get 1 Day Pass for only RM5 while the 3 Day pass would cost you RM15. Do note that you’ll need to activate this with a Touch ‘N Go card and you must maintain a minimum of RM5 credit at all times.
This discount is applicable from 1st July until 31st December 2020. If you’re interested, the RapidKL MyCity pass can be purchased at all 122 BRT, LRT, MRT and Monorail stations.
According to RapidKL, they hope that this initiative will boost economic activities and businesses, especially in the Klang Valley. They also hope that the pass will restart back domestic tourism which was severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It added that its rail and BRT integrated network offers commuters an opportunity to explore the Klang Valley and Selangor without limits.
The MyCity Pass was introduced last year and it was originally priced at RM15/day. Late last year, they offered a discount where you can get a daily pass at RM10/day or RM25 for 3 days.
For those that take public transport on a daily basis, the government had recently announced a My30 Pass which offers unlimited rides for BRT, LRT, MRT, Monorail and also MRT shuttle buses for RM30 a month. The MY30 pass is valid until the 31st December 2020 and it is only applicable to Malaysians with an IC.
[ UPDATE 31/12/2021 ] The monthly My30 pass has been replaced with My50 pass effective 1st January 2022.
