Honor Malaysia has started teasing the Honor 9X Lite and it’s the latest member of the 9X series. Despite facing ongoing restrictions from the US government, the new device is expected to ship with Google Mobile Services.

Honor Malaysia has yet to reveal its official launch date but we reckon that it should be priced under RM900. The Honor 9X Pro 6GB RAM + 256GB storage is priced at RM999 while the Honor 9X with 6GB RAM + 128GB storage now going for RM899.

The Honor 9X Lite specs are already listed on the global product page and it is basically a watered-down Honor 9X. It comes with a slightly smaller 6.5″ Full HD+ display that comes with a wide notch instead of a pop-up camera.

Under the hood, it runs on the same Kirin 710F processor and it is mated to 4GB of RAM. The global page has listed 128GB of internal storage which is still expandable via microSD card.

In the camera department, it settles for a dual-camera setup as it loses the ultra-wide-angle camera. The Honor 9X Lite gets a 48MP f/1.8 main camera and a 2MP depth shooter. Also retained is a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. For selfies, the notch houses an 8MP front camera.

Powering the device is a 3,750mAh battery which is smaller than the 4,000mAh unit on the regular Honor 9X. Despite being a 2020 device, it still charges via a microUSB port using a standard 10W charger. Out of the box, it runs on EMUI 9.1 that’s based on Android 9.
