Malaysia has recorded another double-digit number of new daily COVID-19 cases and even more recoveries today. As of today, there are 50 new cases which brings the total number to 5,532. Unfortunately, there’s one new death reported which brings the current death toll to 93. Malaysia’s current mortality rate is 1.68%.
In terms of recoveries, 103 people were discharged today. This brings the total number of recovery cases to 3,452 which marks a recovery rate of 62.4%. At the moment, there are 1,987 remaining active cases that are still receiving treatment. 43 are currently in ICU with 25 requiring respiratory support.
Today marks 6 consecutive days with less than 100 new daily cases. At the moment, the movement control order is scheduled to end on the 28th of April 2020, however, the Prime Minister might announce an extension in the next couple of days. Before the MCO can be lifted, Malaysia would need to fulfil 6 criteria as highlighted by the health director-general.
