Fujifilm X-T4 now up for pre-order in Malaysia but it’s almost RM10,000 for the kit

Oh yes, the Fujifilm X-T4—one of my most anticipated cameras of the year—is finally available for pre-orders here in Malaysia. This camera represents a pretty big upgrade for hybrid shooters especially those who work solo often and need to film themselves, so I kinda expected it to be a little more expensive than its predecessor. But, now that I’ve seen the price, I’m still shocked.

Yup, the Fujifilm X-T4 body only will retail for RM8,388 while the kit with Fujifilm’s admittedly excellent XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4.0 lens will set you back a whopping RM9,998. That’s just RM2 shy of the big 5 digits for an APS-C camera. It’s also more than RM1,000 more expensive than its predecessor.

Just to put things in perspective, if you go online and search for the Sony A7 III which is an excellent full-frame camera—probably one of the best for the price—you’ll find that you can pick up that camera with a Tamron lens for less than the X-T4+Kit. If you just want the body, that can be yours for below RM7,000. And that’s a full-frame camera with a proven track record of being really good at both photos and videos.

It’s utterly baffling, but deep down in my heart, I still really, really want one because of all the awesome goodies Fujifilm has included with this new camera.

For starters, it’s got 5-axis in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) which is fantastic for video and slow shutter speed shooting. On top of that, there’s a new mechanism for the shutter so it’s more durable, there’s a bigger battery so it lasts longer, and finally there’s also the fully articulating touchscreen which is just amazing for people who vlog or shoot themselves very often.

It’ll do 4K vide oat up to 60fps and 1080p video at up to 240fps! There’s F-Log with 10 bit colour, dual SD card slots, a USB-C port that can also double as a headphone jack to monitor audio via the included adapter. Like, it’s a really complete package.

But that price tag is just so wack. Would I pick one up myself? I don’t know. I really want to upgrade my X-T20 to this bad boy, but now I’m going to wait until I get my hands on a review unit before making my decision.

If you want to pre-order this camera, you can do so from now until the 26th of April 2020. If you pre-order it during this period, you’; receive a bunch of free gifts worth RM2,157. These include a 32GB UHS-II SD card, an extra NW-W235 battery, a PU leather camera strap, an X-Series hotshoe cover, an X-Series shutter button and an XF-16-55mm mug. Fujifilm’s authorised retailers are also having a special purchase-with-purchase promotion where you can pick up a bunch of different lenses as well as a multi-battery charger for discounted rates.

If you’re interested in picking up this camera, you can pre-order them through Fujifilm’s authorised retailers or on Lazada and Shopee.
