Huawei updates the P30 Pro with Android 10 and dual-tone design

Before Huawei introduces the Mate 30 Pro later this month, the Chinese smartphone maker has introduced a new Huawei P30 Pro that comes with a different look. On top of that, the new device will also be running on the very latest Android 10 out of the box.

Instead of a full glossy glass back with a gradient effect, the updated model gets two textures at the rear. The upper third portion is glossy and reflective while the remaining area is covered with a matte finish. It’s available in two options – Mystic Blue and Misty Lavender. Below are some images from The Verge for a better look:

In addition, the new device also introduces Super Night Selfie mode which supposedly captures brighter selfies in low light situations. The Night Mode for selfies was already rolled out last month in China with its EMUI 9.1.0.193 update.

In terms of specs, it’s the same old P30 Pro underneath. To recap, the P30 Pro has a 6.47″ Full HD+ OLED display and a Kirin 980 processor. For imaging, it also gets a 40MP f/1.6 main camera, an 8MP periscope telephoto shooter that’s capable of 5X optical zoom, a 20MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera and a 3D ToF camera for depth sensing. Powering the device is a 4,200mAh battery that supports 40W SuperCharge charging via USB-C.

With Android 10 pre-installed, Huawei is showing its commitment to delivering the latest version of Android to its consumers. Unfortunately, there’s still no pricing and availability details for the dual-tone P30 Pro just yet.

With the ongoing Huawei ban and the fact that Google is not allowing the upcoming Mate 30 series to be sold with Google apps and services, this could be the very last Huawei flagship device to ship with Google Play Store. Since the Huawei P30 Pro has been certified by Google earlier this year, it can still get full access to Google apps and services.
