During Celcom’s 5G live cluster field trial event, an Oppo smartphone was used to demonstrate the performance of its 5G network. The device is the 5G capable variant of the Reno 10X Zoom Edition.

At the event, the Oppo Reno 5G was able to get a download speed of 1,207Mbps and an upload speed of 55.4Mbps on Ookla’s Speedtest.

Oppo Malaysia CEO, William Fang, said the introduction of 5G in Malaysia gives them the opportunity to innovate even further in smartphone technology which includes VR and AR. With the collaboration with Celcom, they are excited to be a part of the 5G test and they wish Celcom the very best in introducing the latest in telecommunications to Malaysians.

He added that Oppo is working closely with their partners such as Qualcomm and Ericsson to ensure that their 5G phones offer the best performance. In Europe, the Oppo Reno is claimed to be the first commercial 5G smartphone available with its launch in Switzerland through a partnership with Swisscom. Oppo plans to roll out the Reno 5G to other markets in the coming months.
