Is Xiaomi’s next Android One device better than the Mi 9T?

For those who want a pure Android experience, Xiaomi also has an Android One lineup with its Mi A series. The current Mi A2 is almost a year old now and the device is somewhat compromised by its small 3,000mAh battery. For the next Android One device, it appears that the Mi A3 will be based on the Mi CC series that was launched in China.

According to information obtained by leakster @IshanAgarwal24, the Mi A3 with the codename bamboo_sprout, will be similar to the Mi CC9 but it will come with a more powerful Snapdragon 730 processor. This is the same unit that’s found on the current Mi 9T and Galaxy A80.

The rest of the hardware should be retained and this means the Mi A3 could come with a triple-camera setup, a large 4,030mAh battery and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The CC9 in China also comes with a microSD expansion card slot, NFC and an infrared blaster. If Xiaomi decides to carry all of those features to the Android One model, this would be an added bonus.

For those looking for a more affordable alternative, there will be a Mi A3 Lite with the codename cosmos_sprout. It’s said to be based on the CC9e but instead of a Snapdragon 665 unit, the Mi A3 Lite will be powered by a Snapdragon 675 processor.

Xiaomi’s Global Director of Product Management, Donovan Sung, had just tweeted what appears to be a teaser for the next Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite successors. This could be a sign that the Mi A3 series will be announced very soon in the coming weeks.
