If you use Maybank cards to top up your eWallet, it appears that your double dipping days are almost over. The bank has announced that they are ceasing rewards and cashback for eWallets top-ups with their issued payment cards sometime next month.
This is applicable to all Malaysian third-party eWallets and it will take effect from 8th July 2019. This means, you won’t be able to collect TreatPoints, Membership Rewards Points, Treats AirMiles and cashback when you perform an eWallet top-up.
Before June 2019, Maybank 2 Cards Gold and Platinum AMEX cardholders could enjoy 5X TreatsPoints and 5% weekend cash rebate for every RM1 spent (capped at RM50 per month). Obviously, this had greatly benefited those that top-up AMEX supported eWallets such as Boost and GrabPay during the weekends.
