Huawei Malaysia has named Michael Yuan as its new CEO. His appointment is effective from 1st Feb 2019 and he replaces the former CEO, Baker Zhou.

According to Huawei Malaysia, he served as the deputy CEO of Huawei Indonesia prior to his appointment. Yuan joined Huawei in 2011, working as an engineer for Indonesia Indosat Account. From there, he climbed through the ranks, serving as an Account Director and Vice President of Carrier Network Business Group.

As the new CEO of Huawei Malaysia, Yuan would be responsible for overseeing Huawei Malaysia’s operations, ensuring that Huawei Malaysia would serve as a great ICT partner in aiding the development of the technological field in Malaysia.

“I am very excited to be given the opportunity to lead Huawei Malaysia, especially during this current period of transformation with 5G on the horizon. 5G will unlock a world of opportunities – improving workforce productivity, enhancing competitiveness, accelerating economic growth, and advancing innovation,” said Yuan.

Yuan also mentioned that under his leadership, Huawei Malaysia will dedicate themselves to develop Malaysia’s ICT industry together with the government and ecosystem partners to produce greater innovations.
