Samsung has just announced the Galaxy A8s in China and this is their first smartphone with an Infinity-O display. Instead of a notch, the Galaxy A8s uses a cut-out-hole for the selfie camera.

The Galaxy A8s gets a 6.4″ all-screen display that pushes a Full HD+ resolution. The cut-out-hole looks bigger than the press renders and apparently the hole is 6.7mm in diameter, which is larger than the recently introduced Honor V20 (4.5mm diameter).

Samsung tries to hide the hole by using a darker shade of colour on its wallpaper. However, it’s definitely noticeable while running apps with a lighter background. If we look at the bezels, the bottom chin is slightly thicker than the top and side edges. Not quite as symmetrical as the iPhone X but it’s better than most full-screen Android smartphones.

Under the hood, it is powered by a powerful Snapdragon 710 processor that comes with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM that are paired with 128GB of internal storage. In terms of camera, the front comes with a 24MP selfie camera while the rear gets a triple-camera setup which is slightly different from the Galaxy A7.

There’s a main 24MP f/1.7 shooter, a 10MP telephoto camera with 2X optical zoom and a 5MP f/2.2 camera for bokeh effects. There’s also a fingerprint sensor on its glass back.

There’s no official info on its battery capacity (likely 3,400mAh) and it charges via USB-C. It is also worth pointing out that the Galaxy A8s lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is a first for a Samsung smartphone. At the moment the pricing isn’t revealed yet and the device will be made available first in China.
