In case you missed it, Setel is an e-wallet by Petronas which allows you to pay for petrol with your smartphone. To encourage more signups, Setel is now running a promo where you can get 10% rebate on your petrol purchases for 30 days.

To enjoy this offer, you’ll need to sign up for a Setel account before 2nd December 2018 and perform at least 3 transactions with a minimum of RM30 each. After that, you can enjoy the 10% rebate which will be credited to your Setel wallet within 3 working days.

UPDATE: Setel has extended the 10% rebate promo to cover signups before 31 December 2018.

The rebate will cover all transactions for the first 30 days of your account creation. According to Setel’s T&C, each account has a maximum rebate cap of RM50. You can learn more about this promo on Setel’s website.

UPDATE: Setel is now available on iOS.

Setel is currently available only for Android devices. For iPhone users, the iOS app will be released at a later time. At the moment, Setel is supported at 30 Petronas stations throughout the Klang Valley. Below is their current list of stations:

To recap, Setel is a great payment alternative to cash and debit card. There’s no need to queue and you don’t have to worry about the RM200 credit hold on your savings account. To make a payment, just launch the app upon arriving at the station, select the pump number and the amount of petrol that you wish to buy. There’s also a full tank option and the app will charge accordingly based on the final amount.

While you refuel, there’s a kiosk next to the pump where you can order drinks and snacks from Kedai Mesra. It will be charged to your Setel E-wallet and your order will be delivered straight to your car. To learn more, you can check out our hands-on post and our video below:
