For those who love the security features of a BlackBerry but prefer a device with a larger display, here are two new all-screen BlackBerry smartphones. The BlackBerry Evolve and Evolve X feature an 18:9 “FullView” display, dual cameras and a large battery.

On the surface, both the Evolve and Evolve X are quite identical but they carry very different specs underneath. The standard Evolve comes with a 5.99″ Full HD+ display that’s protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and under the hood, it runs on a Snapdragon 450 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

In terms of optics, it gets a 13MP RGB + 13MP monochrome cameras for the rear, while the front gets a 16MP f/2.0 selfie shooter. Powering the device is a 4,000mAh battery which can be charged via USB-C supporting Quick Charge 3.0 as well as wireless charging.

For those demanding more power, the Evolve X retains a similar 5.99″ Full HD+ display but it is powered by a beefier Snapdragon 660 processor with 6GB of RAM. Storage is the same at 64GB.

Over at the rear, it gets a 12MP f/1.8 main camera and a secondary 13MP f/2.6 telephoto shooter. The selfie camera is the same as the standard Evolve with a 16MP f/2.0 front shooter.

The Evolve X also gets a 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 and wireless charging. Both the Evolve and Evolve X are running on Android 8.1 Oreo that comes with BlackBerry’s DTEK security features.

Unlike the BlackBerry KEY2 and other recent models, these devices are not manufactured by TCL. Instead, they are made by Optiemus, a manufacturing partner that’s based in India.

The more affordable BlackBerry Evolve is priced at 24,990INR (about RM1,482) while the Evolve X is going for 34,990INR (about RM2,075). As a comparison, the BlackBerry KEY2 is priced at 42,990 INR (about RM2,550) in India and it’s sold in Malaysia at RM2,599. For now, the Evolve duo is available only in India and it isn’t clear if it will be sold elsewhere.
