The Gear Fit2 Pro is officially priced at RM799 in Malaysia and it comes in either pure black or black with red inserts. As a comparison, the previous Gear Fit2 was priced at RM699. The design is quite similar to last year’s Gear Fit2. However, it gets a buckle strap which makes it less likely to come undone during rigorous workouts. The screen is still a 1.5″ Curved Super AMOLED screen that’s protected with Gorilla Glass 3.
Designed for swimming, the Gear Fit2 Pro has 5 ATM water resistance which means it can withstand being submerged up to 50 metres (165 feet). It also comes with an Accelerometer, Gyro, Barometer, Heart Rate Sensor and GPS. For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 4.2 and 802.11 b/g/n WiFi.
One of its key features is offline Spotify playback which would take advantage of its 4GB internal memory. This allows you to play your tracks standalone without a phone through a Bluetooth headset. The Gear Fit2 Pro has a 200mAh battery which is rated to last 3-4 days with normal use or up to 5 days with low usage.
The Gear Fit2 Pro supports both Android (4.4 and above) and iOS devices (iOS 9 and above) but we reckon you’ll get more functions when paired with an Android device. We are currently testing one that’s paired to a Mi MIX 2 and it works fine including Spotify. Do stay tuned for our full review.
