Celcom has just rolled out its high-speed fibre broadband service in Sabah which will cover both rural and urban areas. This is in line with state government’s agenda for a Sabah Smart City by providing fast internet speeds at lower prices. The Sabah focused broadband service is handled by Celcom Timur Sdn Bhd.
For home users, Celcom offers 3 broadband options starting from RM120/month. The base Home Fibre 120 gives you 10Mbps at RM120/month and the next faster option is Home Fibre 150 which gives you 20Mbps at RM150/month. If you need even faster speeds, Home Fibre 180 provides 40Mbps at RM180/month.
According to Celcom, their Home broadband quota is unlimited and they have the same speed for both upload and downloads. If you’re a Celcom FIRST Gold Plus, Gold Supreme, Platinum and Platinum Plus customer, you can get RM15/month off your monthly bills for Home Fibre 150 and Home Fibre 180. That’s RM135/month for 20Mbps and RM165/month for 40Mbps. As a comparison, TM Unifi offers 10Mbps (5Mbps upload) at RM129/month (Lite Plan with HyppTV) and 30Mbps (10Mbps upload) at RM199/month (Advance Plan with HyppTV).
Celcom’s home fibre plan also lets you make voice calls that are charged at 10 sen/minute. The home plans come with a free wireless router and installation.
For business owners, the base Business Fibre 10Mbps cost RM158/month and it goes all the way up to 100Mbps at RM378/month. Like the home broadband plans, speeds are also unlimited. All plans get a free wireless router, free DECT phone and free installation. As a comparison, Unifi BIZ plans starts at RM199/month for 10Mbps and it tops off at RM399/month for 100Mbps.
Existing FIRST Business Gold Plus, Gold Supreme, Platinum and Platinum Plus customers can enjoy RM20 rebate for 24 months from their monthly Business Fibre bill with Business Fibre 20 plan and above. If you register at least 5 Business Fibre lines, you will enjoy an additional discount of RM20 discount per line. Calls are charged at 8 sen/minute and Celcom is providing free 300 minutes each month for Business Fibre 20 and above.
